Camera Club of the Philippines

Today, exhibits, publications, lectures and workshops on photography are among the regular activities undertaken by the club. In 1983 and 1988, the club mounted a major “Vintage and Classic Camera Exhibit” in the Cultural Center of the Philippines, which featured the largest collection of rare cameras and photo equipment ever assembled in the Philippines. In 1985, the club contributed to a traveling photo exhibit intended to “sell” the Philippines in the United States. In 1988, photo exhibits took a new level of significance in a joint effort with the Metropolitan Museum of Manila when a selection of the club’s photographs was organized to teach the principles of aesthetics and composition. This exhibit, entitled “Filipinas Nating Napakaganda”, was transported all over the Philippines and shown to thousands of school youth.

Other similar efforts with didactic overtones have since been mounted, now to exhibit the different faces of the Filipino, now to promote environmentalism.

George Bowling - Harlem Chamelion

The learning experience received at the New York School of Arts, encapsulated a broad scope in the field of fine arts. My educational theory and practical included the historical aspects of art and its conversely constant reflection on society and the artist, ranging from the Neolithic through modern and post-modern eras.

During the past quarter century of world travels, I have been fortunate enough to view, experience, and appreciate the work of many of the masters in the art world, allowing me to respect both their greatness and this medium in its entirety.

While an acquired identification style is often perceived, related to, and recognized in specific works of many artists, I, through my own design, prefer to constantly apply diverse variation in technique and scope towards an idea as it is initially conceived
